Senior System Administrator / Installation Lead


DESCRIPTION Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as the hands-on technical operations manager, coordinating the operations of a large network installation and operations/maintenance shop of system administrators. As such, the senior sysadmin has the experience and knowledge to perform all major network infrastructure installation, integration, configuration, and operations work, but the senior sysadmin primarily focuses on coordinating the activities of less-experienced sysadmins.

Typical sysadmin duties and expertise include the installation, configuration, and operations of network equipment to include servers, routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, network storage systems (SAN/NAS), intrusion detection devices, workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, and other network hardware. Sysadmins install system software, to include user applications, operating system updates, security and anti-virus software, and security patches and IAVAs. Sysadmins ensure that all network services (print, file, messaging, database, applications, web, user account management, data backup, etc.) are delivered effectively and efficiently. Sysadmins will tune network and network service performance as needed.

Sysadmins maintain network documentation and system configuration documentation on an on-going basis.

This position requires frequent travel to job sites in the Netherlands and Germany.

Major Job Function:
Lead the team's hands-on installation and migration team efforts for the installation/migration of IT systems and networks for 5 sites. Serve as the technical focal point for the team's project managers. Coordinate technical assignments for the installation crews. Advise project managers regarding issues such as personnel and resource allocation, scheduling issues, configuration management and testing issues.

The specific duties include:
1. Planning, coordination and management of all efforts for system implementation
2 Installation and integration of workstations, laptops, servers, printers, other peripherals and LAN components
3. Software (including device drivers) installation on all respective hardware components to run the required functionality on each hardware item
4. Overall system integration
5. Configuration of the system components to meet the provided settings
Assist server installation lead with:
6. Planning, coordination and management of all efforts for system implementation
7. Delivery and installation of the necessary hardware to include racks, enclosures, cooling, servers, blades, and other network equipment
8. Installation of all software on the servers
9. Configuration of all software based on provided documentation
10. Installation and configuration of interface drivers relevant to other equipment used
11. Configuration of RAIDS inside or attached to the servers
12. Configuration of UPS
13. Installation of console switches for shared I/O devices
14. Configuration of the servers so that they can be tested at defined events
15. Conduct other system integration duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:
- Requires several years experience with the installation, integration and configuration of servers, workstations, laptops, routers and hubs.
- Requires several years experience in Windows migrations, to include using Windows migration tools and the automatic deployment of server and workstation hardware and software configurations.
- Requires several years of experience with the installation, configuration and support of MS Exchange servers. Experience with Exchange 2003 a plus.
- Requires demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory troubleshooting and Windows 2003 protocols (TCP/IP, NETBIOS, DNS, WINS, etc.).
- Requires demonstrated knowledge of HP Server hardware capabilities and integration.
- Desired knowledge of Cisco switch hardware capabilities and integration.
- Desired experience in the configuration and use of advanced security devices and tools such as firewalls.
- IT support shop management a plus.
- Current NATO Secret clearance (plus).

Years of experience: minimum 8 years Windows sysadmin experience.
